Orange County Great Park (Aug 7-8)
The Orange County Great Park (I-5 and Sand Canyon Dr., at the site of the former El Toro Marine Base) has a summer concert series starting in August. The concerts are free; parking is $8.
Last year’s concerts were great. Go early and get a free ticket to ride the Great Park Balloon, the largest tethered helium balloon in the United States.

A nice pre-camp event
The event on Friday night would be perfect for the early-arrivals from out-of-town.
I´m a HUGE fan of the Buena Vista Social Club & went to see the Afro-Cuban All-Stars when they toured the states back in 2002 when they played at UCLA´s Royce Hall. It never fails, every single time I see the Buena Vista Social Club dvd, I get goosebumps. These are the people that originated the genre in Cuba back in the 40´s. It´s a must-see & get emotional just watching it.
