I’ve been enjoying the DrupalCamp, but I have been disappointed that two of the sessions I signed up for were cancelled within the last week, at least one of them within the last 24 hours. It would be great if there could be email notifications if any sessions are cancelled once the schedule is posted. Also, if the schedule could be posted at least two weeks in advance. I would definitely have planned my day differently if I had been aware of the schedule changes. But thanks for a great camp overall.

too fluid, need freeze

Similar to a code freeze, the schedule should have been given the same treatment. Worse than sessions being canceled days ago, the entire schedule was constantly being changed, many times with less than a couple of hours of notice. Furthermore, the online schedule is only posted in the sponsor room. So, unless you’re tethered to the Internet yourself, you’d have to constantly go back to the sponsor room to check on the ever-changing schedule. The schedule should be made available at every room. Ideally, it should be frozen days before the camp started.

Other than this issue, the camp was perfect. I had a blast! Thanks to organizers and volunteers.

But, but, but, it's barcamp style!

Submitted by Senpai on Fri, 2009-08-14 20:33.

This is a barcamp style event. In a barcamp, sessions are proposed by the attendees, given by the attendees, and scheduled by fastening post-it notes to a wall in some sort of fashion that denotes a series of rooms with stuff happening in them.

Most barcamp style events don’t even have a schedule until everyone shows up on the first day and begins writing their session ideas on stickies. Don’t forget that. Please, don’t forget that.
