Planning
INSTALL FEST
We’d like our track to be responsible for one Install Fest, which Nicole will lead/plan.
BoF LUNCHEON
We’d like to have a luncheon, targeted at women but open to both, labeled as the drupulchix BoF lunch. Nicole is going to scout for a location for this lunch. We’d like to do this lunch on Saturday.
Unless someone would like to sponsor this event (if you would, please contact us!), participants will be responsible for their own lunches.
BOOTH
We’ll have a table that is open throughout the entire camp. drupalchix will take timeslots at the table so that someone will always be there — hopefully men will be interested in helping as well. We’ll also invite representatives from other orgs, like Girls in Tech, Linuxchix, WIF, and??? (please recommend below, esp. if you are from an org) to join us for scheduled times at the booth so that interested people know they can come to the booth at specific times to also connect with other organizations.
SESSIONS
We will be reaching out to lots of women to submit session proposals. Hopefully lots of those proposals will be accepted so that we’ll have a high representation of women leading sessions. What can we do to help make sure that happens?
Sessions we already know there’ll be proposals for:
The basics: migrating a site from your desktop to live (including backup and security considerations). (Nicole & Rain together)
Module Development (through case-study) (Jen Lampton)
Playing with contributed modules (Nicole)
Social Networking – taking a website beyond a website (Rain & Nicole together or someone else who volunteers)
Collaborating with a high-end designer on a low budget drupal site. (Rain)
Large Site project management case study (who TBD, Rain or Nicole are backups)
PANEL
So, Chris’ panel idea has received a lot of positive responses. But the responders really are interested in hearing about the obstacles women face and having women talk about those obstacles. So, for this panel (Rain will moderate) we’d like to get three-four women who can both feature their work and do case studies of using drupal, and also answer questions that come up about the gender aspect.

awesome
Great idea Rain/Nicole!
sponsoring food
Since our sponsor fees are really low this year, I don’t think we would have enough to cover lunch. Plus, not everyone eats the same dishes so there’s that “choice” concern. I’d like to hear ideas if this is really something to do.
To get more people to attend the lunch together, we should just keep promoting it as a lunch event.
There is plans to provide Drupalchix with their own table (booth) at the event, probably both days.
I don’t know where you guys
I don’t know where you guys are as far as sponsors for food, but…. I took the liberty of emailing a friend who runs a Women in Business group down here at UCSD. I’m UCSD alum, so I thought she might know of someone or some group up at UCI who would be interested in sponsoring. She had a few ideas and will email me Monday. However, it looks like SANDcamp will have a sponsor for a DrupalChix event, from UCSD, which would be great! I will let you know when I hear something.
VISTA Ninja Wanted for Install Fest
Hello All,
I have been concerned that people will show up to drupalcamp running Vista. I can totally handle a windows install but I would LOVE to have someone who works with VISTA to come and help any other VISTA users. VISTA poses a huge challenge in Drupal in my opinion and I would hate for any new users to walk away without an install due to problems with VISTA. I will be making this announcement at the next L.A. Drupal meeting as well. Please contact me if you are interested in helping in this capacity.
