I know people always have trouble thinking up something awesome to present about. At least I do (which is why I stick to the one I know!).

Feel free to add to this list of topics you’d like someone to present at DrupalCamp!

Features/Spaces/Contexts – what are those DevSeed guys up to?
OpenAtrium – more from DevSeed, has anyone been using this in the alpha?
Files API in Drupal7 – a lot of work went into this revamp, how does it affect developers?
Marketing Topics
Social Commerce – people socializing over a product before they buy it

Yes to OpenAtrium

Submitted by ChristophWeber on Sat, 2009-07-11 12:53.

If anyone can present about OpenAtrium I’d be all over it.
Also, I am interested in Aegir.

Beginner 101 sessions

Submitted by Chris Charlton on Sun, 2009-07-12 20:02.

Personally, I’d love to see more beginner tracks since this camp is free we will have a large percentage of total newbies. A track for introducing Drupal is key to growing the community. The following will sound like an organizer’s recommendations, well, because they are.

  • Blocks 101
  • Modules 101
  • Themes 101
  • Node Content Type Basics
  • Theme Templates 101
  • Form API 101
  • CCK 101
  • Views 101
  • Panels 101
  • Context Module 101
  • Drupal 7 Module Changes
  • Drush 2.0
  • Ubercart 2.0
  • Overrides in Themes versus a Module

Completely Agree (from a newbie's perspective)

I’ve gone through some tutorials and such, but would definately benefit from a beginner track.

Handling Development between multiple developers

Submitted by rich.yumul on Sun, 2009-07-19 16:46.

Working on theme enhancements, business logic & processes between multiple developers on a Drupal project is pretty straightforward (things that don’t touch the database).

However, when developer’s start working on things that modify the database, then things get a little squirrelly.

How do you manage and reconcile database diff’s between multiple developers on a Drupal Project? Best practices?

the Biz side of Drupal

Submitted by miguel on Mon, 2009-07-20 11:33.

I´m really curious to hear about biz intricacies & how others are leveraging Drupal to make their dreams come true. I guess it could be considered a more generic ¨starting a webdev shop 101¨ but it would be cool to hear how those intersect with Drupal.

Things like:
-Software/tools used in keeping track of your finances
-How to appropriately deal with flaky clients
-Cool ways to market yourself in an ever-flooding market
-What to look for, office space & employees, when expanding your Drupal shop
-Partnering with other Drupal shops to attack larger projects
-The importance of giving back by becoming a Drupal Association member or member organization
-So you´re a webdev? Why is it important to add Drupal to your bag of tricks

I never see any of these topics discussed & even when I review DrupalCons after they´re over, it seems that the biz topics never get covered. IMHO, touching on these types of topics might bring some ¨aha¨ moments to the Drupal newbies on the fence.

There's no one way

Submitted by Laura on Sat, 2009-07-25 05:24.

So rather than a singleton presentation, a panel seems to be the way to go. I participated in one at DrupalCon Boston, and it was interesting — I learned a lot. There also was a small panel in DrupalCon Szeged — saw the video, and that was interesting.

Enhanced Forum Developement

Submitted by varr on Tue, 2009-07-21 09:11.

I’d really like to see something on implementing an enhanced, robust, fully moderated Forum system (not a PHPBB integration) that either builds on the core forum functionality or utilizes other contributed modules.

Any takers?

I’ve just learned of the existence of PressFlow and Mercury…

Both sound like must-know aspects of Drupal for high traffic clients…
