Sorry folks, due to the fact that sessions end at 8pm tonight, Volleyball will have to be cancelled.

Saturday evening, after all our Drupal goodness, I’m going to want to move around a little. Fortunately, the UCI Campus Village, where a number of us will be staying, has a sand volleyball court. I will look into the details, but if you’re interested in playing, leave a comment here.

So in

I’m way into volleyball, so I’m pretty certain my wife and I will hang out and play, too.

We need three more playahs

Bill (csevb10) + Shannon & myself + Beck will take on Shawn and his three-fer posse. It’ll be like an episode of the North And The South. Remember that show? Duuude.

Assuming I’m able to make it

Submitted by torgospizza on Sat, 2009-07-18 17:27.

Assuming I’m able to make it up there (I should be) I’d be down for a game. I’ll need some practice first, though – been a while since I last played.

In bigtime!

Haven´t had my wrists turn dark shades of red in a looong time so I´m looking forward to some college flashbacks of sandy, bloody kneecaps. ;)

Game on!

w00t! I’ll say there is adequate interest.

I sent an email to the UCI Campus Village inquiring about their court. Here is their reply:

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Sand Volleyball Court Lighting: Our volleyball court is kept fairly well
during the summer months. During the evening time, it isn’t very well
lit solely to encourage play during the light of day.

Volley ball check out: You can check out a volley ball from the
Community Center or can bring your own.

Net and line definition: We only set up the volleyball net when there is
an event or program to prevent theft of the net. If needed, we can set
up the net upon request. The net looks brand-new, however it is too big
for the sand volleyball court, so it may not be as taut as you hope.
There isn’t line definition on the sand.

So be it.

I’ll reply to their email and request the net be set up Saturday afternoon. I doubt they will have a real regulation AVP sand ball (you know, the yellow and white Wilson one), so if anyone has one, please bring it. I’ll check out one of their balls anyway.

I guess we’ll settle for drawing lines with our feet.

I assume most people will want to go to the Steelhead Brewery before it gets too dark anyway.

See you there!

Here’s a map of Campus Village. The Volleyball court is along to top of the map near Parking Lot 16W

CANCELLED

Holy cow! The last session ends at 8:00pm! There’s no way I want to play volleyball after that. It’ll probably be too dark anyway.

Sorry folks!
