staying on campus?
Is anyone else staying on the UCI campus in the dorm rental option? Just curious, if lots of folks are doing this it’ll probably be a fun place to hang out, otherwise I’ll just go to a hotel…

Me!
I reserved a room at UCI. I don’t know too much about it, but there appears to be a common area.
Also, there’s a VOLLEYBALL COURT! Let’s see about getting a volleyball game going on Saturday evening. After sitting around all day in sessions, I’m definitely going to want to move around a little bit. If you’re interested in playing, I started this forum topic for discussion.
Me too
I intend to stay on campus too, and am interested in sharing a dorm suite with 2 to 3 others. Contact me if interested.
What dorms you guys staying
What dorms you guys staying in? Middle Earth/Mesa Court/Arroyo Vista/Campus Village?
I haven't booked yet
Waiting for responses in this thread. Blake, any recommendations?
Mesa Court was where I
Mesa Court was where I dormed… so naturally I think its a great place. One definite advantage to getting in there or in Middle Earth is that they much more walkable to the In-n-Out and other “off campus” dining area in University Town Center as well as walkable to the classrooms (where we’ll be having the event). Campus village is still directly on campus next to classrooms so walking to the event is easy. Arroyo Vista and others are all most likely a quick on campus shuttle ride (or ~20 minute walk) to the classrooms and such.
Any of the places you can stay on campus are going to be more convenient than a hotel, the campus is beautiful, and it’s a really great place to be around.
Hotel UCI
I think the only short-term on-campus housing is Hotel UCI in Campus Village 2-bedroom student apartments. Rates are $76/night single, and $100/night double (and if you don’t mind sharing a room, $136.00/night for 3-4 persons). Note that if you’re driving here, you’ll have to also pay for parking ($7/day).
As Blake noted, Campus Village is very close to our event location. The campus is laid along a 1-mile ring road (with Aldrich Park in the middle), so you can pretty much walk anywhere on campus in under 20 minutes.
Middle Earth, how I miss thee
I have many fond memories of staying at UCI. In the summer of 1990, I was selected to be a h.s. peer counselor & the Peer Counseling Academic Training Symposium (PCATS) put us all up at Middle Earth for the week-long training. It was really great & close to a bunch of the eating areas & I recall a game room w/pool table in the lobby.
For any of you runners out there, one added benefit is that the UCI campus is absolutely gorgeous & full of vegetation so if you like going for a morning run (as I did back then every day), you´re in for a real nice treat. Every day, I ran an extra lap around the campus as I really didn´t want to stop- it was that great!
